Mr. Hong earned a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law, Los Angeles in 1975 and a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1972. Mr. Hong has been an active member of the State Bar of California since 1977.
Mr. Hong's practice has placed special focus on international transactions and economic matters. He has represented multinational companies headquartered in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the PRC in their business transactions in the U.S. as well as U.S. companies transacting business in the Asia Pacific Region.
Mr. Hong served on the Board of Directors of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations for over five years. He had also served as the President of Los Angeles-Guangzhou Sister City Association, the President of the Los Angeles Chinese Association of Commerce and on the Senate Advisory Commission on California-Canada Trade Relations.
Mr. Hong was also the President of American Chamber of Commerce in Guangdong, PRC in 1996 and 1997. In 1996, the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government bestowed the high honor of Honorary Citizen of Guangzhou to Mr. Hong.
Mr. Hong is currently an Advisor to the China Political Consultative Conference, Guangzhou Committee. He serves as a Board member of the Council for Foreign Trade of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and also as a Vice President of the China International Chamber of Commerce Shangdong Branch. Mr. Hong has been appointed as an Arbitrator of the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission since 2004.
Gary Chodorow graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from
Duke University in 1989 and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall) in 1993. He was a partner in the law firm of Gessler Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym, Chicago, Illinois, for ten years practicing immigration law and employment law.
He is an adjunct professor at Chicago-Kent Law School. In China, he has taught
law courses at Beijing University, Beijing Foreign Studies University,
and Liaoning University. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers
Association. He speaks

Dr. Samuel Y. Kupper
Attorney of Counsel
Dr. Samuel Kupper received his Ph.D. in Chinese studies from the University of Michigan in 1972 and his J.D. degree from the Loyola University School of Law in Los Angeles in 1977.
Dr. Kupper was an Associate Professor teaching Chinese history at the California State University in Fullerton, California from 1973 to 2003. He has also served as a consultant/representative for corporations in the U.S., Central and South America in their business dealings with China.
Dr. Kupper has been an active member of the State Bar of California and practicing lawyer since 1977.
Hedy H. Zhang, Esq.

Ms. Zhang earned an L.L.B. in 1984 from China University of Political Science and Law, where she earned scholarship to pursue advanced law degrees in the United States. She received an L.L.M. in 1986 from the University of Michigan School of Law, where she did her thesis on "Taxation of Joint Ventures in China." She received an S.J.D. in 1990 from the University of Wisconsin School of Law, where she completed her dissertation on the "Legal Environment on Trade and Investment between China and the U.S.A."
Ms. Zhang is licensed to practice law since 1990 before all the state and federal courts in California. Ms. Zhang is fluent (speaking and writing) in Mandarin Chinese. Ms. Zhang's areas of practice are (1) business litigation, (2) family law; (3) bankruptcy law, and (4) business transactions inbound and outbound between the United States and People's Republic of China.
Jeffrey C. Chiao, Attorney

Jeffrey Chiao received his B.A. degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his M.A. degree in East Asian Studies from Stanford University in 2001. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California Law School in May 2004. Mr. Chiao is an active member of the State Bar of California. He was a judicial extern at the California Court of Appeal-Second District and a law clerk at the California Attorney General¡¯s Office-Consumer Department. Mr. Chiao¡¯s areas of practice are corporate and commercial law, litigation, trust and wills and U.S. immigration laws.
Ms. Yan is a
graduate of Zhong Shan University with a Bachelor
of Law degree. She also
received an L.L.M. degree
from University of Florida. Before joining
our firm, Ms. Yan practiced in a
local law firm in the United States
for several years.

Xie Ming
Mr. Xie is a graduate of Tong Ji University in Shanghai; passed the Chinese Bar examination and admitted to the PRC Bar in 1998.
Prior to joining Frederick W. Hong Law
Offices, Ms. Nyhart worked for six years for the U.S.
State Department as a Consular Associate. In that
position, she completed the Basic Consular Course at the
Foreign Service Institute in Virginia. She went on to
serve at the U.S. Embassies in Vientiane, Laos, and
Manila, Philippines. Her responsibilities included
adjudicating nonimmigrant, immigrant, and fiancé(e)
visas, as well as dealing with security checks, special
clearances, and waivers. Ms. Nyhart was the recipient of
the State Department’s Franklin Award for exceptional
service. Ms. Nyhart is a graduate of Guangzhou Teachers’
College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business English.
