Mr. Hong earned a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law, Los Angeles, in 1975 and a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1972. Mr. Hong has been an active member of the State Bar of California since 1977.
Mr. Hong's practice has placed special focus on international transactions and economic matters. He has represented multinational companies headquartered in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the PRC in their business transactions in the U.S. as well as U.S. companies transacting business in the Asia Pacific Region.
Mr. Hong served on the Board of Directors of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations for over five years. He had also served as the President of Los Angeles-Guangzhou Sister City Association, the President of the Los Angeles Chinese Association of Commerce and on the Senate Advisory Commission on California-Canada Trade Relations.
Mr. Hong was also the President of American Chamber of Commerce in Guangdong, PRC in 1996 and 1997. In 1996, the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government bestowed the high honor of Honorary Citizen of Guangzhou to Mr. Hong.
Mr. Hong is currently an Advisor to the China Political Consultative Conference, Guangzhou Committee. He serves as a Board member of the Council for Foreign Trade of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and also as a Vice President of the China International Chamber of Commerce Shangdong Branch. Mr. Hong has been appointed as an Arbitrator of the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission since 2004.
康律师1972年毕业于加州大学伯克莱分校,取得经济学学士学位后于1975年在洛杉矶莱奥拉大学法学院取得法学博士学位。康律师自1977年起至今是美国加利福尼亚州的执业律师 。
康律师的法律执业重点是国际贸易和商务问题。他曾经在美国代表香港,台湾和中国的跨国公司处理法律事务,也曾经代表美国公司处理其亚太地区法律事务。
康律师曾连续5年任美中关系全国委员会的理事。康律师还曾经担任过洛杉矶-广州友好城市协会的会长,洛杉矶华商总会会长,加州-加拿大贸易关系顾问委员会理事。
康律师在1996年和1997年任广东美国商会会长。1996年中国广州人民政府授予康律师荣誉市民称号。
康律师现担任中国广州政治协商会议顾问,中国国际贸易促进委员会对外贸易理事会理事、中国国际商会山东分会副会 长。康律师自2004年被任命为广州市仲裁委员会仲裁员。
